The following options are available for an employee’s family status:

  • Single
  • Married
  • Divorced
  • Widowed

The number of children does not refer to the number for tax purposes but rather to the actual number of the employee’s children. If a child becomes ill, the number of children is important so that the number of days off for each child can be determined for the employee. Similarly, some companies grant special leave when a child is born. For this purpose, the HR department needs proof of the birth and can then enter the data.

No data have to be entered if no information is available or if an employee does not specify the number of children because they have already grown up and do not live in the family home.
